Farm Life
Short trip to a beautiful farm community in North east Thailand.
A few weeks ago we traveled to a small village about 6 hours from Bangkok. We stayed in the home of a Thai friend of ours. It’s a simple home, in a simple village. The kind of quiet and peaceful place that you forget exists, when you live in a big city like Bangkok.
Early in the morning I got up and I wandered around with my camera. I wanted to try and capture the atmosphere and the sounds and the spirit of the place. I love watching people who, even though they always have something to do, they”re e never in a rush to do it. They live and work and take their time. But then time always takes on a different meaning in places like that.
It was the first time I had picked up my video camera in weeks. The first time In months that I felt some reconnection to nature. Listening to the chickens and the wind and the singing birds.
Taking deep breaths and enjoying the cool fresh air. I knew I would miss it after we returned to the noise of the big city.
As the sun came up and burned away the clouds, I wandered If I could ever live in such a place. Even though I can appreciate the beauty and peacefulness you find in the countryside, I don’t think I could ever live such a slow and simple life, not for very long anyway.
But it sure is a great environment for kids and I want my boys to spend more time
surrounded by nature and animals and good friends.
Living in the big city, we’re often too busy to slow down and smell the roses, as they say. To sit and talk with good friends, to think about what we really want for ourselves… what we really want to do with our lives. And some of us unfortunately… are too busy to discover who we really are… and why we’re here.
