Bangkok is a big modern city.
It’s changing fast like the rest of the world.
Every year more and more old houses and buildings are destroyed.
The beauty and charm of the past is disappearing.
Wooden houses are replaced by concrete apartments.
Traditional markets are replaced by shopping malls.
The history and culture of the city have no meaning.
“Out with the old and in with the new”.
This is the “motto” of the developing world.
Of course everyone wants to enjoy new and exciting things.
Shopping malls and shiny buildings are here to stay.
But as the world gets smaller and becomes more of the same…
The unique look and feel of the world’s big cities is lost forever.
The backstreets of Bangkok are still unique and original.
I wonder how long they will last.
I wonder.

“Little Girl In The Park”

There’s a park very near our house.
We go there every week to relax and play with the boys.
The park is always crowded on the weekends.
There are many people doing all kinds of activities.
It’s popular with travelers and local Thai people.
There are always a lot of children running everywhere.
This little girls was having so much fun.
She was laughing and playing all by herself.
I went to take her picture and she stopped…
She just looked at me and didn’t move or smile…
Like I was an alien from a strange world.
She was so cute and I could only wonder what she was thinking.
I guess she thought I was a giant from another planet.
But she wasn’t scared…only curious.
I took her picture, then she turned and ran away…
laughing and smiling…
