“The Past Two Weeks”

Of course the biggest news here in Bangkok is that the “red shirt” demonstrations are finally over. After two months of craziness, and 87 people killed, the streets are quiet again. Thank God.

Teo got a very bad knee infection. We have no idea why it happened. It started as a small red spot; like an insect bite. After a few days it was so swollen and painful, he couldn’t walk on it. I took him to the hospital. The doctor cut his knee open, cleaned it out, and gave him antibiotics. Now he’s feeling better and the knee is almost healed.

I love Thai Coffee. I was never a coffee drinker before coming to Thailand. Now I have to stop myself. I want to drink it every day, especially because the weather is so hot. My favorite coffee stand is down the street from my house. It’s so delicious; only 30 BAHT (90yen) for a large iced coffee. That’s so cheap and it’s better than Starbucks.

Finally it’s starting to rain again in Bangkok. The last two months have been so very hot and humid! I mean like 38 and 40 degrees every day. I’m happy we have a small swimming pool in our apartment. That really helps during the hottest time of the year. I’m looking forward to the rainy season, when the sky over Bangkok is full of dark clouds and different colors. It’s really beautiful.

Our friend Aom came to Bangkok and we saw her for the first time in a while. She moved back to her home a couple of months ago. She comes from Korat, Thailand. It’s about 5 hours from Bangkok by bus. She’s from a small rice farming village. Now she’s moving closer to Bangkok. She wants to open a Vegetarian Restaurant with her friend. I hope she can do it, because she’s really cool.

This weekend is a 3 day holiday, so we’re going to the beach. Should be fun!
